Why the right swimwear fabric really matters for plus-size women

We’re well aware of the fact that we’re living in a fast fashion world. It’s incredibly easy to buy the latest trends, and then watch (or literally feel) them completely deteriorate after wearing them just a few times.

JunoActive is exactly the opposite, as we source the strongest fabrics for all our clothes with the intention that they last for years and years. Special focus goes into our swimwear fabrics because swimsuits are exposed to harsh chemicals in pool water—namely chlorine—and need to be durable in order to last.

That’s why we developed our AquaSport swimwear collection. It was made for swimmers who’re in the pool multiple times a week for exercise or physical therapy, and need a suit that they can depend on.

The unique fabric blend of a chlorine-resistant polyester with a mechanical stretch is what makes our AquaSport fabric a favorite with our most avid swim customers. The best part is that the colors won’t fade like most swimsuits that are constructed out of Spandex.

Our AquaSport collection actually doesn’t have any Spandex in it at all. Spandex can be a wonderful material in activewear, but it doesn’t hold up very well against chlorine and repeated exposure to sun. It easily loses its stretch and the color will fade a lot faster than with a fabric like AquaSport.

Most other plus-size swimsuits are made with Spandex, meaning you’ll be replacing them more often if you’re in the pool exercising multiple times a week.

Which AquaSport Swimsuit Should I Get?

It all depends on what kinds of activities you like to do in the water, and your personal fit preference. If you prefer to be more covered up in the water for speed or if you’re just more comfortable that way, then our AquaSport Aquatard in Laguna Blue might be the best choice for you.

The Aquatard features a front zipper that makes getting the suit on and off a lot easier. The shorts hit right above the knee, and will not bunch up due to movement in the water. This style also features a crossback design for more chest security. Take a look at our size chart here to make sure you get the right one.

Similar to the Aquatard, we also have a standard AquaSport One Piece Suit in Laguna Blue that’s really great in the water if leg coverage is less important to you.

The front of the suit is constructed with a double layer of fabric for extra support and coverage. There’s also a built-in mesh bra.

As always, we offer suits in a range of unique sizes for our plus size and curvy customers that aren’t offered in many other stores: XL, 1X, 2X, 3X, 4X, 5X, and 6X swimsuits in durable, comfortable fabrics that will last for dedicated swimmers.
