4 Questions to Ask When Shopping for a Plus-Size Swimsuit
JunoActive's plus-size swimwear lines have been designed specifically for the plus-size woman to make the most of her athletic and fitness goals.
Our swimwear lines include different types of specialty fabrics: QuickEnergy, AquaSport and AquaCurve. Each have specific qualities from fit to form, designed to meet specific needs for the curvy woman.
Here are 4 questions you need to ask yourself before deciding which swimsuit is right for you.
1. Do I Need a Chlorine-Proof Suit?
How much time do you actually spend in the pool? Our suits are made for any fitness level, but if you are a regular swimmer, do water aerobics or another activity where you send hours a week in the pool, you will want to consider our AquaSport technology for your suit.
While all JunoActive swimwear is chlorine resistant, suits that contain lycra can break down in chlorine. Our AquaSport suits are 100% polyester fabric and use a special knit process to ensure extended life for your swimwear. Practically chlorine-proof, the fabric dries quickly and breathes easy, and is tailored for performance, durability and support.
While the price point is slightly higher on these suits, you will not have to replace them often, and is a better investment for your fitness regimen.
2. Do I Need Sun Protection in my Swim Wear?
It's summertime, and if your water activities have you spending lots of time outdoors, it's important to ensure proper protection from the sun's harmful rays.
Both QuickEnergy and AquaSport fabrics offer sun protection up to 50 UPF.
Consider using a rash guard for added sun coverage, as well as protection from wind or chill. Rash Guards also make a great option for water sports like surfing, paddle boarding and kayaking, as well as an option for more modest coverage.
We also offer longer swim capris, for additional leg and thigh coverage.
3. Do I Want My Suit to have Compression Technology?
Compression technology in fabric offers several wonderful benefits for the wearer. It smooths and holds your curves, making for a very flattering suit.
It is also specially formulated to reduce tension on muscles for better active experiences.
Our most compressive suit is our AquaChic, which is tailored to produce a slimming effect. The second most compressive is our QuickEnergy, followed by AquaSport fabric.
Tip: JunoActive prides itself on having a very consistent fit for all items, and the body measurement chart is your best guide to choosing the proper size. Occasionally, and individual product listing may have additional instructions to consider for proper fit.
4. Do I Need a Different Size Swim Top vs. Swim Bottom?
If you're like most women, your bust may be larger or smaller than your hips and thighs, which can make choosing the right size swim suit difficult.
Our separates, such as bra top, tankinis, shorts and swim skirts mean you can mix and match sizing to your exact preferences.
For women with larger busts, our suits have sewn-in cups and thicker tank straps to provides additional support and performance for a plus-size swim top.
